CHIROPRACTIC FAQs

We live and breathe all things chiropractic, so we’ve pulled together some of the most common questions that come up about chiropractic care. Read on to find out what we do and how we can help you and your family.

What is chiropractic?

In short, chiropractic is a form of manual therapy that sees the health of the spine, and the function of the nervous system, as the key to maintaining or restoring health.

A chiropractor diagnoses, treats, and prevents a range of musculoskeletal conditions, in patients of all ages, using a variety of techniques ranging from spinal adjustment to stretches, depending on your condition!

What conditions can a chiropractor treat?

As chiropractors, we take a holistic view of a patient’s musculoskeletal system. We understand that pain or tightness in one part of the body can impact another area that may not seem related to an untrained person. We treat everything as a whole to get the best outcome for your health and wellbeing.

We assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of conditions anywhere in the body, including:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Sprains and strains
  • Sports injuries
  • Overuse injuries
  • Arthritis
  • Headaches
  • Whiplash

If you’re experiencing pain or discomfort and are wondering if chiropractic treatment could help, give us a call and we’ll let you know!

What treatment techniques do chiropractors use?

When people think of chiropractic treatment, spinal adjustment is usually the first thing that springs to mind! A spinal adjustment is when a chiropractor applies a specific and controlled thrust in a precise direction to a joint in the spine. This is done to correct a restricted joint and improve the range of motion.

However, chiropractic care is not all about spinal adjustments – depending on your condition, it may involve a range of treatment methods. During your first appointment, we will talk to you about your medical history and the symptoms you are experiencing. We will then examine your spine, focusing on the areas where you are experiencing pain and surrounding soft tissue. We will discuss your treatment goals with you, which may include reducing pain, restoring movement and function, etc. We then develop a treatment plan specific to your needs. This may involve treatment techniques such as spinal adjustment, soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, stretches or exercises, or weight management and lifestyle advice.

How often will I have to see my chiropractor?

Each patient is different so it will depend on your condition and particular goals. Have a chat with us during your initial appointment to understand how many sessions are needed, so you know what to expect!
