CHIRO MYTHS BUSTED!

Myths and misconceptions about chiropractic care can prevent people from seeking treatment to enhance their lives. So, let’s bust the most common chiropractic myths!

Myth: Chiropractic care is only for your back

The most common misconception about chiropractic care is that it is only for back issues.

As chiropractors, we take a holistic view of your entire musculoskeletal system. Chiropractic treatment may help with issues anywhere in the body. Pain or discomfort in one part of the body can cause secondary injuries or tightness in another area that seem unrelated. We are trained to treat the body as a whole to get the best outcome for your overall health.

We assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions anywhere in the body, including back and neck pain, headaches, migraines, sports injuries and sprains, overuse injuries, and arthritis. Anything that is causing you any pain or discomfort is something that we could potentially help you with. If you are unsure, just give us a call and we’ll let you know.

Myth: You only need to see a chiro when you are in pain

The belief that you only need to visit the chiro when you are injured, or in pain, is a common misconception.

As chiros, we diagnose and treat a range of musculoskeletal conditions, in patients of all ages, using a variety of techniques ranging from spinal adjustment to stretches, depending on your condition!

However, you don’t have to wait until pain, or an injury pops up to come and see us. Prevention is better than cure! If you are putting up with any tightness, discomfort, or reduced mobility in your daily life, come and see us before it becomes a bigger problem.

Myth: Chiros only crack backs!

Chiros are known for making spinal adjustments to correct a restricted joint and improve the range of motion, however it is not the only treatment method we use.

As chiropractors, we use a wide range of treatment methods, including spinal adjustments, soft tissue massage, exercise routines, joint mobilisation, stretches, weight management and lifestyle advice.

We will develop a treatment plan that is specific to your needs. The methods used will depend on the symptoms you are experiencing, and your medical history. We will also discuss your treatment goals with you, which may include reducing pain, restoring movement and function.
